The Parenting Playbook You Used to Know Doesn't Work Anymore
Nobody prepared you for this part. The instincts that worked for years — the ones that kept things running, kept them safe, kept you close — don't work anymore. You ask a question and get a one-word answer, or silence. You try to give space and it feels like losing them. You reach for what used to work, and it backfires.
This isn't a sign you're failing. It's a sign the relationship is going through a transition — and so are you.
What Changes After ParentPivot?
- You stop walking on eggshells around your own kid
- You know what to say in the moment instead of replaying it later
- Hard conversations stop turning into blowups or silence
- You have a role in this new season — not just a memory of the old one
You're Not the Only One Adjusting to This Season
Here's what makes this season so hard: your teen or young adult is going through a transition. And so are you. Both of you are trying to figure out a new version of this relationship — and most of the tension comes from doing that at the same time, without a shared plan.
What's Happening for Them
- Trying on independence for the first time and testing how much you'll let them have
- Pulling back not because something's wrong, but because separating from you is part of how they grow up
- Wanting your trust before they've fully earned it, and needing your patience while they get there
- Testing boundaries because that's how they find out where they actually stand
What's Happening for You
- The instincts that worked when they were younger stop applying — and nothing's told you what replaces them
- Wanting to stay closely involved while also learning to let go
- Not knowing if you're still "the parent," or something else now
- Reading distance as rejection, when it's often just them growing up
Neither of you set out to grow apart. You're both just navigating a shift nobody handed you a map for.
A Healthy Relationship With Your Teen or Adult Child Is Possible
Parenting a teenager or young adult isn't the same skill set as parenting a child. ParentPivot isn't about getting back the relationship you had when they were younger; it's about learning to show up for the relationship you have now, one where you're both allowed to grow and still stay connected while it happens.
That starts with a few coaching skills: asking questions that open a conversation instead of shutting it down, creating enough safety that they'll tell you what's really going on, and setting boundaries without turning it into a power struggle.
What Kind of Parent Are You in This Season?
Sometimes it helps to see your own patterns before you try to change anything. Take the two-minute quiz to find out what type of parent you're being in this season and get a clearer picture of what's really going on between you and your teen or young adult.

What Makes ParentPivot Different From Other Parenting Resources
Coaching-based, not discipline-based
ParentPivot isn't about getting your kid to comply. It's about coaching skills — deep listening, powerful questions, and emotional safety — so you're building a stronger relationship with your adult child, not just better behavior.
Built from real parenting experience
Abigail is a mom of four teens and young adults herself. This isn't theory — it's been tested in her own home, in real conversations, during the hard seasons.
Skills that work in the moment, not just in theory
Every parenting tool in this course is something you can use the next time a conversation starts to go sideways — not just something to think about later.
Grounded in ICF coaching standards
The tools in ParentPivot come from the same coaching framework used across Abigail's other courses — a globally recognized standard, not a one-off parenting trend.

Meet the Coach Behind ParentPivot
The tools in this course aren't theoretical — they came out of Abigail's own living room.
Hi, I'm Abigail Doust — coach, trainer, and mom of four teens and young adults. I created ParentPivot after years of coaching other parents, and after watching these same tools reshape how I communicate with my own kids.
I'm a Certified Professional Life Coach (CPLC) and an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) with the International Coaching Federation (ICF). I have more than a decade of coaching and training experience, including 100+ students trained along the way. But more than the credentials, I'm someone who's lived this exact season — the silence, the second-guessing, the not knowing what your role is anymore — and found a way through it that didn't cost me the relationship.
ParentPivot is what happened when I put my coaching skills to the test in my own living room — and watched them work in ways I hadn't seen other approaches come close to. I'd love to walk through it with you.
